Places of religious and cultural significance have long been targets of violence and destruction and are often places of dispute between and within religious traditions. Whether the dispute is over access to sites of worship and prayer or involves the destruction of material culture and infrastructure, threats to heritage sites represent more than destruction of bricks and mortar: they are attacks on symbols of history and identity.

Global Covenant supports partners who develop tools to provide anonymous reporting of threats to heritage sites and to promote more rapid responses to those threats.

Beyond the protection of physical infrastructure, Global Covenant is supporting the development up-to-date network maps of the key stakeholders in dispute over heritage sites.
